Real Horror

The Red Cross is calling the situation in Congo a 'human catastrophe'. Since Wednesday, approximately 250,000 people have fled the city of Goma to avoid incoming rebel forces. Today, a somewhat frail ceasefire holds the line as reports of wide spread murder, rape, and looting grip the exodus. As such, relief efforts have had difficulty breaking through. This composite of powder keg diplomacy and on the ground conflict is censoring basic humanity in far too many regions, far too frequently throughout the world. I suggest we keep this in mind next Tuesday. The global impact our election has for people in crisis has gotten lost in a campaign shuffle that has become more about plumbing than peace.
