The NBA Western Conference Final tips off tonight in Los Angeles. Though the Lakers have home court, many analysts are pegging a Nugget upset. Perhaps, but it won't be easy. The NBA has officially kicked its Kobe vs. LeBron Finals campaign into overdrive. Nike chips in with some puppets reminiscent of the Lil Penny period. The caricatures may have elicited more public outcry over its ethnic stereotypes had the execution been better. As it stands, puppet Kobe and LeBron are just really annoying. Vitaminwater debates who's the better player, King James or Black Mamba. Laker great Jerry West has made up his mind, he says LeBron. (Take that Black Mamba!) Denver city limits withstanding, the league is clamoring for its dream matchup, akin to many as a proper post cursor to Magic vs. Bird. Lots of dollars are at stake, so expect a series full of physical play, star power and star treatment for Kobe. The refs most certainly have their orders at hand.
