We All Fall Down

Less a Scorsese, the Fall harvest still looks to bring a bushel of high art, big bucks and a number of ambitious projects from directors, screenwriters, actors and properties either worth paying attention to or ignoring entirely. Peter Travers helps make sense of it all.

Eat My Sh*t

This much is clear: John McCain is one weird, old dude. His bizarro debate behavior and false candor Tuesday did little to endear him to independent voters. Especially in contrast with Barack Obama's cool stability.

Rolling Stone attempts to construct McCain's masculinity issues through a comprehensive, pointed dissection of his career pratfalls. The essay unabashedly paints McCain as a product of legacy; stumbling in pursuit of his father and grandfather's grandness. Such weight crumbled him into an alpha-prick.

Maybe that explains his obvious disdain for Obama. The lack of equality McCain has shown his rival throughout the campaign is most likely based on envy. At least primarily. The rest comes from being a total asshole.

One last observation. McCain's overall presentation and response is tipping the point of senility. Something is off here. It's a different kind of unease generated than say when George Bush cascades through sentences. It's more like when someone lets a fart in a crowded, quiet room. You just want to leave.

That and the fact that he's a bitter, old pissy man pretending to be in sync with reality. His facade is pure fantasy and resembles the Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Thankfully for us, John McCain is not going in reverse.
