Action Comedy

Shane Black writes contemporary action like 40s film noir - broken stories that progressively piece themselves together through frivolous dialogue. Just with more swear words. For me, his most inspired works are The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Last Boy Scout. Both movies are a deft blend of bullets, banter, and characters that give a shit. As an audience, we worry how they get themselves out of whatever crazy, bat shit predicament Black puts them in.
