Cash Money Millionaire
Seeing a film like Slumdog Millionaire last minute usually is detremintal to enjoying it. Rarely do movies with such fanfare live up to the hype. Either the viewer is more likely to disregard it having missed the early return or the movie is simply mediocre. Slumdog fits neither. Its appeal is its vibrancy; it is nearly impossible to resist. Much like previous Oscar winner Good Will Hunting, Slumdog came from the shadows of high gloss studio entertainment (the Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and captivated the Academy (and public) through an exuberance of cinema and simple story. Unlike the former's loss to Titanic in 1997, the latter claimed eight Academy Awards Sunday evening, including Best Picture, and deserved every one.

Oscar Sundae

If you live in Wisconsin, chances are you've spent a good deal of time eating at a Culver's restaurant. The home grown Butter Burger and Frozen Custard franchise -somewhere between fast food and casual dining- attracts a kind of Midwest fanaticism more characteristic of a Packer or Badger enthusiast. On Sunday, Culver's will attempt to expand its growing cult by airing its first nationally televised ad during, of all programs, E! Television's live Academy Awards Red Carpet pre-show. In addition to asking celebrities, 'Who are you wearing?', host Ryan Seacrest might also consider, 'What is the Flavor of the Day at your local Culver's?'. I bet Mickey Rourke will be able to answer.
