A Shoe Hope

Photo from /Film.

As this footwear and apparel collection suggests, adidas should have made the new Star Wars movies instead of George Lucas. Or better yet, no one should have.

Whites Only

Photo from The Good Will Out.

I'm dreaming of a white shoe Christmas. Just like the ones I used to wear. Where shell toes glisten, and children listen, to hear rock the bells in the snow.

Fitted for a King

Fitted Hawaii celebrates 50 years of uneasy aloha with Kamehameha and Kalākaua dynasty apparel. Pick one up here. Elsewhere, author and resident Paul Theroux pens a loving editorial to the islands he "wouldn't mind dying on." Having spent a good deal of my childhood eating rice cakes from the back of ice cream trucks in Pearl City, discovering, then rediscovering the secret coordinates to the location of Cobra Command (incidentally a fortress hidden in Kalihi Valley), and avoiding the furor of the Sisters at St. Elizabeth's in Aiea, I completely agree.

Don't Mess with the Messenger

New artist designs by Sam Flores and Jeremy Fish fashion Upper Playground style to the Chrome line of urban messenger bags. Take it from me, someone who walks to work each day with a Mini.Metro secured comfortably against his upper back by Chrome's patented chest buckle system, a new twist on a safety standard that thereby avoids the typical lower back strain associated with the more widely used sling-style messenger bags, I recommend with great admiration any of Chrome's messenger bags to the young professional who relies on his or her feet to peddle or walk from point a to b. The line offers a variety of sizes to fit any load and varying color schemes to compliment even the most outlandish of wardrobes. And as an added bonus, all Chrome messenger bags instantly give their wearer a feeling of invincibility as most people will no doubt liken themselves to either Snake Eyes or John Rambo, or any fictional military superhuman for that matter whom fights evil with a fully loaded arsenal strapped to their back. Like them, at any given moment, I fully expect a ninja sword or an endless supply of exploding arrows to be within arm's reach should I encounter a white-clothed assassin or rogue Burmese General in my daily commute. Which, needless to say, is a delusional sense of safety I'm happy to pay $120 for.

Zip-Up Blow-Up

Remember that cool Antonioni movie about the fashion photographer who thinks he may have photographed a murder? Yeah, these blow-up doll hoodies have nothing to do with it.

House Music

The full version video for the Adidas Originals 60 campaign features a house party where guests are asked to leave their shoes on at the door. The soundtrack is a reworking of Frankie Valli's Beggin' by French musician Pilooski. Alternative uses of the song can be found here and here.
