Must ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon. This one is 'cause he ain't livin'. Ownin' a monkey don't seem so right. It doesn't matter he's lost his life. Just ribbon, ribbon, ribbon, ribbon. Ribbon, ribbon.

You forget how tore up Gun Hill Road is. This joint is a reminder.

You Say Camorra, I Say Camaro

I think this big black beautiful thing inspired by the release of BlakRoc, the hip hop blues rock adventure album from the Black Keys featuring Mos Def, Q-Tip, Raekwon, RZA, Pharoahe Monch, among other super delicious MCs, is for real and can be yours.

If not, then jerks.

The Tet Offensive

Here. Nine minutes of pretty great courtesy of Four Tet. Or if nine minutes is too long for you, Norah Jones will be over in less than three.

Bone, Thugs and Harmony

Ryan Gosling used to sing songs of love and devotion from the perspective of a prepubescent mouse child during his days as a Disney heartthrob. Then he became the leading actor of his generation when he gave one of the most pure performances in recent film history as Dan Dunne in the great, great Half Nelson. Now he makes rousing, spiritual, depressing, spooky, hipster blues music with friend and fellow actor Zach Shields as Dead Man's Bones.

La Roux Gangster

The lack of anything over the last week can be attributed to my wife's best friend visiting us from London.

Luck Be a Lady Gaga

The cancellation of Fame Kills, her co-headlining tour with Kanye West, isn't stopping Lady Gaga from offering wonderful costume ideas for anyone who wants to dress like a crazy person for Halloween.

The Dark Night

The greatest ever, Har Mar Superstar, will save the world October 13 with the release of Dark Touches, his first album in nearly five years.

Fans starving for sex infused electro pop r-n-b club music and victims of the economy, earthquakes, typhoons and war should pre-order now, because Dark Touches will end these and all other tragedies until the end of time, which it will also defeat.

Until then, the video for "Tall Boy" is sure to improve upon your pathetic quality of life with its eclectic, beautiful guest stars and general, overall amazingness.

Kanye Best

What is the difference between an angry congressman and an angry rapper? Stage presence. Last week, U.S. House of Representative Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" at President Barack Obama during the president's health care address to Congress. Fallout proved mild however when compared to the contempt meeting Kanye West this morning following his impromptu 'hijacking' of the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony Sunday night. As spontaneous as his editorial seemed, credit Kanye for having the good sense to place not a finger on Taylor Swift. Had he, conservative outrage*, particularly from the country music community, might have invoked greater hostility than when these people debate health care.

*Two words that by their very definition do not belong together, but, more often than not, do.

Socialist Media Networks

Suggested listening for What the F**k is Social Media, Marta Kagan's slide show on the merit of social media for business, is David Holmes' Let's Get Killed. The album and its brooding, atmospheric noir lends to the post-modernism of Kagan's spirited and convincing presentation.

Fill in the Blank

Amanda Blank talks dirty, but delivers her rhymes with a Care Bear-like kindness. If there were ever a Care Bear named Club Booty, Blank would be that bear. Her debut album, I Love You, is filled with the kind of midnight to 5 AM bravado you normally expect to hear on a Peaches record, only sterile and not scary as hell. Blank's songs, like the above "Might Like You Better", call to mind pigtails and bubble gum, as you might find them used on an adult movie set by women who do not look old enough to be called women.

The 3/50 Project encourages consumers to thrive their community economy by patronizing 3 local businesses and buying at least $50 worth of their retail. Bling Sing

Island Def Jam will package the new Mariah Carey album with something called a mini-magazine, a first-of-its-kind concept intended to generate sales for the down-on-its-luck music industry. The insert, a 34-page replica issue of Elle Magazine, only about Mariah Carey, contains brand ads for things Mariah Carey likes or has including luxury apparel, beauty products, champagne and trips to the Bahamas - all products completely accessible to her core fan demographic of women, ages 12-14.
